Winning Two Awards, Lucy Dacus Reflects on the Boygenius: “Long Live Boygenius”


Boygenius, an American alt-rock supergroup consisting of Phoebe Bridgers, Julien Baker, and Lucy Dacus, has colored the alt-rock world with their songs since 2018. The trio has successfully debuted in 2018. The group came out for the first time on 28 October 2018 with an EP which contains six songs. After five years debuting their EP, Boygenius released their debut album entitled “the record” on 31 March 2023. Under the label Interscope Records, the album contains five songs: “The album had five singles: “$20,” “Emily I’m Sorry,” “True Blue,” “Not Strong Enough,” and “Cool About It.” In the following months, on 13 October 2023, the supergroup continued to publish their second EP entitled “the rest.”


Winning Grammy Awards 2024 and BRIT Award 2024




The annual music award Grammy Awards was successfully held on 5 February 2024. Boygenius on this occasion brought 3 Grammys from 6 Nominations. The single “Not Strong Enough” won the nomination Record of The Year as well as Best Rock Song. The nomination Album of The Year also aced by them with the album “the record.” 


The supergroup did not stop on the Grammy Awards, then they continued to BRITS Awards. BRITS Awards is a prestigious award in the UK which is equivalent to the Grammy. This prestigious award was held on 3 March 2024 and the trio brought the BRIT home as International Group Of The Year. Boygenius beat other distinguished nominees which are Foo Fighters, Blink-182, Paramore, and Gabriels.




Lucy Dacus’ Reflection on Boygenius




On her instagram, Lucy Dacus of Boygenius posted a picture of the trio with a heart-warming caption. The caption shows her reflection of her journey together with Boygenius. She feels grateful for joining the band along with Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker. “This day marks six years since Historian was released, a year since Not Strong Enough came out, a month since the Grammys, and bg won a BRIT award today, so I’m feelin reflective and wanted to say thank you to everyone that cares about my music and boygenius.” said Dacus on her last and only post in instagram @lucydacus. The posting reveals the hiatus of Boygenius. In her last sentence Dacus added “Long live boygenius.”
