Sir Brian May the Guitarist of QUEEN Together with Jean-Michel Jarre Sparked the STARMUS Festival


Sir Brian May, the Guitarist of the legendary band QUEEN, together with Jean-Michele Jarre, the French electronic music pioneer, sparked the STARMUS Festival in Bratislava, Slovakia, on 12th May. They moved 100,000 people at the opening concert for the STARMUS Festival which was presented in association with digital security company ESET. 

Within the performance, Jarre started to fill the fuel by performing Blue Dot in Space, an arrangement created specifically for STARMUS by Jarre. This arrangement composed the real sound of the stars that were waved into the soundscape. Thus, the arrangement according to a release, “Inviting the audience to consider our position on Earth within the cosmos, and the future of our home planet, reflecting the theme of this year’s edition of STARMUS Festival.”



This performance of art blended music and technology. The spectacular ballet of 400 drones together with fireworks adorned the sky as well as choreographed to the music. Additionally, over 30 meters tall, two towering turrets framed the UFO bridge decorated with lasers and lights. Jarre regarded these elements as a visual score to the music. 

On the stage of the STARMUS Festival, Sir Brian May and Jarre performed the rendition of Antonín Dvořák’s New World Symphony. May also joined the electronic music pioneer, Jaree, performing “Bratislava Time” and “Rendez-vous Bratislava.”
