Paul McCartney Blesses Beyoncé’s Cover of “Blackbird” and Proud of Her

Paul McCartney, the frontman of The Beatles, applauded Beyoncé’s version of “Blackbird.”  Through his Instagram post (4/4), he stated his blessing to include her rendition of The Beatles’ song on her newest album, “Cowboy Carter.” In his Instagram, McCartney wrote, “I spoke to her on FaceTime and she thanked me for writing it and letting her do it. I told her the pleasure was all mine and I thought she had done a killer version of the song.”

He validated Beyoncé for covering the song magnificently. Sir Paul also felt delighted by Beyoncé's rendition of "Blackbird" since the song carries a historical value that is still relevant these days. He says that the song reinforces the civil rights message. “I am so happy with @beyonce’s version of my song ‘Blackbird’. I think she does a magnificent version of it, and it reinforces the civil rights message that inspired me to write the song in the first place." shared Sir James Paul McCartney in his Instagram post. 

The Beatles' classic "Blackbird" has a civil rights message as its inspiration. This was also confirmed by McCartney himself through his Instagram post about Beyoncé's song. McCartney affirmed that the song was inspired by a group of Black students who were blocked from entering the high school and tormented by their classmates throughout the year. 

Paul McCartney was also shocked by the fact that this kind of situation is still happening nowadays. Therefore, the frontman of The Beatles said that he was proud of Beyoncé who included his song to ease racial tension through her newest album. 

“When I saw the footage on the television in the early 60s of the black girls being turned away from school, I found it shocking and I can’t believe that still in these days there are places where this kind of thing is happening right now. Anything my song and Beyoncé’s fabulous version can do to ease racial tension would be a great thing and makes me very proud.” wrote McCartney.
